Tryouts: Day 1. Distance.

Robert is beginning conditioning (check out his post.) Two miles I hear. That’s pretty good.

I, however, began tryouts today. Stations. 1+ mile (it was five laps around a baseball field), 400 yd, jumps (five minutes over a soccer ball), and shuttle run. After all that, after wheezing and gasping, the timed three mile! I was in the top two or three in my grade for pretty much every exercise; running is kinda my thing. I feel great with how tryouts have begun. It’s nice to be around people who want to work. Even the lazy I-don’t-give-a-fuck seniors are taking charge and accepting the responsibility that comes with their seniority and captainship.

I received a schedule that outlines the next two weeks of tryouts. Today listed all that I just did: mile, three mile, etc. Tomorrow just says STAIRS. That should be fun. Good luck to Robert with conditioning, good luck to Brad with the anti-bullying week coming up and for whenever you have tryouts, and good luck to everyone beginning their spring sports.

As my coach says every day: No excuses, play like champions.


Side note: That motto came from Wedding Crashers. I don’t think coach knows.

    Whether he knows or now, it’s a good thought!

    And I’d be dreading anything that just said “STAIRS”! Probably one reason why I was a band and theatre geek, and not an athlete. Keep it up!
